From the Board Room - Fall 2016

As I write this, fall is fast approaching and our crops in this area look exceedingly good. Hopefully the next month will finish off another bumper crop. Higher yields are the only way to help offset lower prices.

The Board reviewed and discussed our 'Grain Policies' for this upcoming harvest and crop year. For a complete listing of the approved grain policies, check Jory’s newsletter article, he has done a good job of posting and explaining them. One thing I would like to draw to your attention is the newly implemented 'Cash Advance Price Later Program'. The board felt that this could be a useful program this fall for cash flow, without establishing prices during the harvest lows in the market. Check it out and see if it is something that will fit your operation. Contact Jory or Pam if you have any questions.

The board has appointed Directors Chris Long and Bob Borning and our General Manager to meet with Farmers Cooperative Elevator (FCE) Manager and Directors to discuss and explore the possibility of working together with the two feed departments. We have had two meetings to date, to discuss the details that would go into this type of joint venture. As of yet we have not moved forward formally, but are doing our due diligence. The board’s goal is to do whatever is best for the EET membership. Even though there is nothing concrete to report at this time, if you have any questions, please contact a board member or our General Manager. We want to have this process as transparent and open as possible.

We are ready and anxious for harvest to get underway. With the money we have invested in speeding up the grain receiving facilities, it is our sincere desire that we will be of service to you this fall as you decide where to deliver your grain off the combine. With extended harvest hours and fast dumping, we hope that we can be an extension of your operation this fall.
